John was born on April 12, 1943 in Lenoir County, NC. John lost his right arm in a mill accident when he was a freshman at Clemson University. He never let that stop him and went on to receive a Ceramic Engineering degree as well as a Bachelor and Masters of Science Degrees. He worked at United Merchants in Clearwater, SC, until he left the textile field. He moved to Atlanta, where he was a locally employed officer of the Canadian Consulate General Office for 20 years. After retiring in 2003, he has enjoyed cooking and pursuing his hobby of painting. He served in the Belvedere United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher of the Friendship Class, sang in the choir, on the Board of Trustees, and many committees. John's sense of humor was special and he will be dearly missed.

Following his wishes, his body was cremated.
