CROSSED THE PLAINS IN PIONEER DAYS
Lebanon, Or., Aug 23. - Mrs. Ann M. SMith, pioneer of this city, died at her home last Sunday morning at the age of 65 years. Although she had benn in poor health for a year, her death was unexpected,, and was the result of heart trouble.
Mrs. Smith was born in Missouri January 14, 1849, and in 1866 crossed the plains with her parents by ox-team. She was married to Phillip M. Smith in early life, and to them were born seven children, three of whom survive. They are Charles A. Smith of Alberta, Canada; Mrs. George Buhl, of this city; and Mrs. Viola Hickkok, of Los Angeles, Cal.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning by Rev. W. S. McCullagh at the Presbyterian church, of which she was a member.
