12 Apr 1945 - 25 Apr 2021
Matador, Texas

Ruby Paulene Markwordt went to be with her Lord and Savior April 25, 2021 in Matador, Texas. Her last wish was to be cremated and laid to rest alongside her Daddy in Fort Davis at the Pioneer Cemetery. A graveside service will be scheduled for a later date when more family members are able to attend. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

Ruby grew up in Van Horn, Texas and was very active in basketball, FHA and 4-H throughout her high school years. She joined the Air Force and then came back to work on ranches with her Daddy, our Pappa, in the West Texas and Central Texas areas, before settling down in Kerrville Texas, where she met her final husband, Charles Markwordt. She was an accomplished seamstress who, in support of her youngest daughter Ruby, sewed all the uniforms for the pep squad one year as well as vests for the Harper High School Band. Later on, she took up crocheting beautiful doilies out of feed sack string and stuffed animals for her grandchildren's enjoyment.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clive and Dixie Acton; her siblings Bubba Acton, Trudy Davis and Dovie O'Neal; and her husband Charles Markwordt.

She is survived by her daughter's Renee "Smokey" Elkins of Dripping Springs; Reva Kendall of Paducah; and Ruby Charlene Nix and husband Clint Nix of Mountain Home; her grandchildren Mandy, Trey and Morgan Elkins; Kristian Frost, Travis and Ty Meyer; and great grandchildren - twins Landon and Rubyanne Greene and Analyse "Morti" Meyer; and many nephews and nieces across the state of Texas.
