William Patrick Ockuly
March 17, 1954 - March 22, 2021 (age 67)

William Patrick Ockuly, 67, passed away peacefully March 22, 2021. He was born in Cleveland on March 17, 1954 to the late Norman J. Ockuly and Agnes M. (Heckman) Ockuly.

William was a longtime resident of Lake County. He was a graduate of North High School in Eastlake Class of 1973. William was a retired letter carrier from the Mayfield-Lyndhurst Post Office. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Willowick, a Eucharist Minister, a member of St. Noels Catholic Church in Willoughby Hills, a member of the East Side Irish American Club, and also a volunteer for Big Brother's Association.

William was known as PATO by his family and friends. He enjoyed going to St. Patrick's Day parades in Cleveland and going to The Irish American Club, writing poems, and being an Irish Toast Master from the heart at all events. He also had a passion for his Christian faith.

Pat is survived by his brothers and sisters, Nancy (David) Oberrath of PA, Donna (James) Blase of St. Louis, Debbie (Jerry) Rakar of Euclid, Daniel (Olivia) Ockuly of Kirtland, Jim (Rachel) Ockuly of Willowick, and Tim (Patty) Ockuly of Mentor. Pat is also survived by his brother-in-law, Robert (Nancy) Sadler.

Pat was a loving and devoted uncle to Steven Rakar, Michelle Rakar, Rebecca Ockuly, Taylor Ockuly, Ben Ockuly, Kristen (Mark) Gaydosh, Winnie Oberrath, Daniel (Jeanne) Oberrath, Kathy (Anthony) Schoenbeck, Noel (Chuck) Bonakoski, Laurie (Joe) Holloran, Tom Blase, Brian Blase, and Jenny Blase. He was a loving godfather to Michelle Rakar, Louis Godfrey, John (Mary) Godfrey, and Paul (Rachelle) Godfrey. He has numerous cousins from the Heckman, Johns, Mullee, Ockuly, Lemmeyer, and Peabody families. Pat was a great uncle to Finley Holloran, Dylan Mroz, Isaac Mroz, Evan Palmiero, Jake Oberrath, Katie Oberrath, Molly Oberrath, Isaac Godfrey, Savanna Godfrey, Sierra Godfrey, Connor Godfrey, Parker Bonakoski, Lexi Schoenbeck, and A.J. Schoenbeck. He is also survived by his step-mother and friend, Marge (Contento) Ockuly, step-siblings, Dan Contento, Tom Contento, and Kathy Krejsa.

Preceding Pat in death was his loving wife of 24 years, Jo Ann (Sadler) Ockuly, parents, Norman J. and Agnes M. Ockuly, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Suzanne (Louis) DiCiuccio, and brother-in-law, Daniel Sadler, brother-in-law, David Sadler, niece, Emily Palmiero, and grandparents, William and Rose Ockuly, and Frank and Margaret (Gallagher) Heckman.

The family will receive friends from 9:00-9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor, Ohio 44060. Pat's cousin, Rev. Tom Johns, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the church. Burial to follow in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland in the Veteran's Section because his wife, Jo Ann, is also being celebrated. They will be together again forever. Masks are required and social distancing is encouraged during all publicly attended events.
