Helen Adell Ashley Branyon, 87, of 808 W. Greer St., widow of Calvin C. Branyon, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Jasper B.C. and Minnie Hanks Ashley. She was retired from Honea Path Shirtmakers. She was a member of Keowee Baptist Church, where she had taught the Beginners Sunday School Class for 25 years. Mrs. Ashley was twice married, first to the late Marvin Harold Ashley.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara (Bunny) and Tommy Campbell, of Honea Path. She was predeceased by a son, James Larry Ashley; a brother, Clyde Ashley Sr.; and three sisters, Lydia E. Ashley, Addie Bell Branyon and Winnie Frances Shirley. Mrs. Branyon was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, at Keowee Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Mize and the Rev. Tony Hayden officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.
The body is at Pruitt Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday. The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tommy Campbell: 808 W. Greer St., Honea Path.
