Leonara Pickett Dowdy, 87, of 10 Timmerman Drive, Elizabeth City, NC died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. A native of Currituck, she was born February 26, 1930 to the late Leonard Pickett and Louise Gallop Pickett. She was a retired quality assurance inspector. The role in life she most relished was of mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She adored her family and was treasured by them and a large circle of relatives and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Herring and husband Mike of Elizabeth City; a son, David Dowdy and wife Mona of Camden; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; a sister, Donna Gregory of Highland, MD; and a brother John Pickett and wife Diane of Currituck. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Marie Dowdy; a son, Melvin Lee Dowdy; and a sister, Helen Jeannette Pickett
