Manuel R. Holgado, 78, died yesterday in his home, 1002 Cogswell Ave., Solvay, following a long illness. He was a Solvay resident 30 years.
A retired employe of the Syracuse University Club, he worked as a maintenance man there until his retirement in 1950.
Holgado was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church and a member of the Solvay-American Spanish Society.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mercedes Hernandez Holgado; two sons, Joseph P. Holgado of Batavia, and Manuel A. Holgado, Jr. of Mattydale; two daughters, Mrs. Dominick Demperio of Solvay, and Mrs. Francis Losurdo of Aurora; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Augustine Rodero
of Barcelona, Spain, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the Bagozzi Twins Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, Solvay, where a solemn high Mass of requiem will be celebrated. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. today and tomorrow at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Ave.
