David A. "Dave" Wegleitner, age 73 of Grey Eagle, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his home in Grey Eagle, Minnesota.
A private family memorial service will be held Saturday, April 24 at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose with Rev. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Military honors will be by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Public visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Melrose. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
David Alois Wegleitner was born January 8, 1948 in Grey Eagle Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Anton and Verena (Heinen) Wegleitner. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 in Germany. He was united in marriage to Linda Gerads on December 26, 1975 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Dave drove semi-truck within the Twin Cities metro area as well as over the road. He retired in 1999. He enjoyed spending time with family, golfing, caring for his yard, hunting, bowling, and playing cards.
Dave was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 of Melrose.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Wegleitner of Grey Eagle; children, Brenda (Bill) Karbo of Ham Lake, Brian Wegleitner of Andover, and Becky (Toby) Sunderland of Blaine; four grandchildren, Ryan Karbo, Aria, Aliya, and Torin Sunderland; brothers and sisters, Leander "Lee" (Pat) Wegleitner of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Julius "Joe" (Carol) Wegleitner of Burtrum, Anton Jr. "Tony" (Kerry) Wegleitner of Coon Rapids, Dale (Joan) Wegleitner of Melrose, Darrell (Anette) Wegleitner of Freeport, Deborah "Debbie" (LeRoy) Sand of Albany, and Denise Wegleitner of Portland, Oregon; sister-in-law, Peg Wegleitner of Grey Eagle.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Verena Wegleitner; brother, Kenneth "Ken" Wegleitner; and grandson, William Richard Karbo II.
Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Grey Eagle.
