Sarah Elizabeth Atkinson of Terre Haute, formerly of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2020 at Meadows Manor East in Terre Haute.Sarah was born to James David Atkinson and Lucille Howard Atkinson on August 29, 1941 in Vincennes, Indiana.

Sarah was a graduate of Bicknell High School and Florida Business College. Sarah began her working career at Indiana University Dental School and then moved to the University of Connecticut Dental School in 1968. She thoroughly enjoyed her career in both dental schools, meeting dentists that would become lifelong friends. Sarah moved back to Indiana in the mid 1970's and continued her working career at Boehringer Mannheim from which she retired in 1995. Sarah was known by her friends and neighbors in both Hartford and Indianapolis for her love of cooking. She was an avid entertainer, loving to show off her latest recipe. When she moved to TerreHaute to be closer to family, she prepared desserts for Farrington House Restaurants and even worked for several catered parties. After fully retiring, Sarah moved to Mount Dora, Florida. She loved "The Sunshine State" and gator watching out her back patio, as well as continuing to entertain all her new friends in her community. Sarah was an active member of the Mount Dora First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the church's choir and participated in many fundraising events. Sarah was an animal lover and loved her many pets throughout the years.

Sarah is predeceased by her parents, brother, James David Howard Atkinson and sister-in-law, Barbara Anderson Atkinson.

Sarah is survived by her nieces and nephews, Suzanne (Troy) Atkinson-Helt, Chris (Kelly) Atkinson (Sullivan), Robert Atkinson (Sullivan) and Amy (Bill) Atkinson Samm (Evansville). She was "Sadie" to her great nieces and nephews, Rachel Helt, Anna Atkinson, Olivia Atkinson, Abigail Atkinson, William Atkinson, McKenzie Atkinson, Jacob Samm, Katelyn Atkinson, Margaret Samm and Emily Samm.

The entombment ceremony will be Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Center Ridge Mausoleum in Sullivan, Indiana. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home.
