"The Smithfield Herald," January 5, 1912, p. 7, col. 5.
A Good Woman Passes Away.
Mr. L. B. Langdon's home was made truly sad by the death of his wife, Mrs. Margaret Langdon, which occurred on December 16th, 1911. Mrs. Langdon had been a great sufferer for a number of years, and almost helpless most of the time up to a few months ago, then she became entirely helpless and remained so until the last.
Mrs. Langdon was the daughter of the late Alfred Lassiter, and was born April 23, 1843 [April 23, 1842 per Alfred Lassiter Family Bible]. Was married to L. B. Langdon in the year 1861. She leaves a husband and sever children, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren, besides a host of near relatives and friends, to mourn their loss. All was done for her that could be done by a loving family, faithful physician, and loving friends. But God saw it best to take her out of this world of sin and suffering. Though Mrs. Langdon was a great sufferer for so long a time, she bore it all the way through with great patience, and without a murmur. May her life on earth prove to be a lesson that will lead her family and friends to the home of the Great Physician who can heal our sorrow and save our souls.
