Mrs. James Edward Roddy, Age 99, Nee' Mary Louise Adams, beloved wife of the late James Edward Roddy. She was born in Alexandria, La came to New Orleans to attend Sophie Newcomb College in 1920, graduating from the University of Illinois in 1924. She taught high school English for several years in Boyce and Alexandria, La and attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin. Mrs. Roddy resided in New Orleans after her marriage in 1930. She was a life-long member of the Episcopal Church and since 1935, a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was the oldest living former
President Of The Women Of The Church. Mrs. Roddy was a Member of the National Society Colonial Dames Of
America and Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority; Corresponding Secretary, First Vice-President and life member of the Orleans Club, a life member of the Ruth Mcenery Stuart Clan and Le Petit Salon; and a member of the Tuesday Afternoon Bible Class of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was the Mother of Edward Roddy and James Charles Roddy; Mother-In-Law of Tia Roddy and Susan Roddy; Grandmother of Melissa Roddy Ruocco, James Edward Roddy, Charles Adams Roddy, James Charles Roddy, Jr., and Frank Hardy Roddy; Great-Grandmother of William Peter Ruocco. Pallbearers are James Edward Roddy, Charles Adams Roddy, James Charles Roddy, Jr., Frank Hardy Roddy, Peter Tattersall and Arthur Gordon Grant, Iii. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Ave., New Orleans, La. on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at 2:00 Pm. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Parish House at Jackson and Chestnut from 1:00 Pm until time of service.
