Genevieve, passed away at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso on April 26, 2011, exactly seventy years from her wedding day. Her family was by her side.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Owosso. The last of ten brothers and sisters to pass away, her death marks the end of a generation of Fords.
After graduating from Owosso High School in 1936, she left Michigan in search of new opportunities in Chicago. There, she met her beloved husband, Sergeant Alfred Fulton of the U.S. Army. They wed on April 26, 1941. Genevieve spent the earliest years of her marriage living on military bases across the country. After living in Illinois from 1959 - 1997, she and Alfred returned to Owosso.
Genevieve was avid at crocheting, knitting and sewing. She loved shopping and talking on the phone. More than anything, she loved her daughters, her husband, her grandchildren, and her many relatives and friends.
Her family wishes that they could have better-eased her pain and suffering in the final months and weeks of her life. She fought a courageous and admirable battle. Thanks to everyone who supported and visited her right up to the end. It meant the world to her to be surrounded by loved ones.
Genevieve is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; her daughter, Deborah; and nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Rocco) D'Amelio; granddaughters Anna (Stacie) D'Amelio, Joanna (Patrick) Gieseke, and Angie D'Amelio; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Marie Ford.
Her Memorial Service was held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Owosso on Thursday, April 28, 2011.
