Violet Delores Ake, 79, of Moore, formerly of Newcastle, died Thursday, April 15, 2021, at her home. The daughter of Lester Thomas Lewis and Vesta Violet (McGuinnis) Lewis, she was born February 16, 1942 in Woodward.

Delores married Melvin Ray Ake on April 6, 1960. They moved from Oklahoma City to Newcastle in 1973. She owned and operated Ake's Poodle Shop for many years and was a member of the Crossroads Cathedral Church in Oklahoma City. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband spent many hours volunteering to help those less fortunate. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Ake; a sister, Arlene Vanderburg; and a nephew, Kenneth Kinsey.

Delores is survived by her three daughters, Katrina Boggs and her husband, Jerry, of Jenks, Christina Malcom of Moore, and Melania St. Onge and her husband, Dean, of Moore; six grandchildren, Melanie Graves and husband, J.D., Jessica Boggs, Natasha Boggs, Melvin Malcom and wife, Lorry, Caleb Malcom and wife, Marilyn, and Kory Malcom; four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Leroy "Art" Lewis and wife, Frankie, of Texas; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
