Shirley A. Thayer, 78, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born in Portland on July 14, 1942, a daughter of James and Eleanor (Coyne) Sullivan.

Shirley grew up and went to school in Old Orchard Beach and graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School, class of 1960.

Shirley was employed in retail for many years but was the happiest working with her family and friends as manager for Wild Acres Campground store for over 20 years. She also worked as a baker at Walmart, for Toy R US and cooked at the Kerrymen Pub.

Shirley had many interesting hobbies. She liked history, was in a bowling league and played horse shoes. She was an avid golfer playing up to the age of 68. She also followed all New England sports, the Boston Bruins being her favorite.

She was predeceased by siblings James (Sully) Sullivan, Thomas Sullivan, Elaine Morgan and Marion Ahearn.

She is survived by two sons Scott Thayer and Robert Thayer and his wife Kimberly, seven grandchildren Ryan, Ashley, Robert, James, Andrew, Sarah and Vanessa and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Stephen Sullivan and her sister Sandra Bergeron and her husband Paul, nieces and nephews.
