Samuel Hoadley (William1), born _____; died 8 February 1714 in Branford, Conn.; married 6 March 1689 in Branford, Abigail Farrington, daughter of John and Mary (Bullard) Farrington, born 30 April 1668 in Dedham, Mass.; died 26 February 1745 in Branford. Samuel Hoadley is first mentioned in Branford records April 24, 1683, when he was chosen one of the haywards of the general field. On March 4, 1687, he and others were granted a parcel of land one mile square in the western and northwesterly part of Branford, and he became one of its first settlers. He lived at Hopyard Plain, called also Hoppit and Hoppin Plain, and was killed under a hay mow. His inventory dated December 16, 1714, amounted to £1087.
