Dominic E. Breheny is the son of James and Anna (Regan) Breheny of Currinah, County Roscommon, Ireland. His sister Mary Breheny Towey (1840-1923) remained in Ireland as did his brother Thomas (1845-1917) who inherited the land farmed by their father. Dominic and his brother Patrick Joseph (1846-1942) immigrated to Iowa. On 25 February 1876, Dominic married Mary Elizabeth Kearns in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union, 6 children were born: Fanny (1876), Patrick Joseph (1879), Thomas (1880), John J. (1882), Edward N. (1884) and Dominic E. Jr. (1887). In 1880, Dominic reported he worked as a Quarry Hand. In 1905, he worked as a clerk for Woodcock & Hibbard. He also reported he was crippled and unable to work in 1900 and 1915. His wife reported she was a widow in 1920. Dominic died between 1915 and 1920 at the age of 64-67. Gloria Anderson created this Memorial for Dominic, the brother of my Great Grandfather Patrick Joseph Breheny born 1846.
