A.D. Lawless died at his home in Moline June 21, 1918. Funeral services were conducted and the body laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery June 23. Mr. Lawless was born in Arklow, Wicklow, Ireland and at the age of 14 came to this country on the ship Waterloo arriving in New York on April 5, 1848 and, a few years later, settled at Janesville, Wisconsin. He was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1850. In 1861 he went across the plains by wagon and settled at Ft. Churchill, Nevada. In 1864 he was married to Miss Sarah Burrier of Plymouth, Wisconsin, and returned again to Nevada where he lived for three years. Then he went back to Janesville, Wisconsin and lived until 1900 when he moved to Moline, Kansas where he lived until his death. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and three children; George Lawless of Moline, Mrs. Dollie Van Vrankin of Janesville, Wisconsin and Mrs. Henry Larkin of Elk Falls.
