Mrs. Daisy Savannah Groves Maynard age 79 of Groves Mt. Blairsville passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 13, 2021 in the Union County Nursing Home. Mrs. Maynard was born on June 29, 1941 in Union County, the daughter of the late Luther Bowers and the late Ada Rich Bowers. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Daisy loved growing flowers (she was known to have a green thumb), sewing, cooking and baking, especially for her church functions. In the past she had worked at the detention center, Hill & Lance Drugs, Gold Kist, and owned and operated the Sweet Shop in Blairsville in the early 70's. Daisy also worked as a caretaker for Avita Community Partners for over 16 years. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, but most of all she loved her Lord. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady Verlin Groves 2005, second husband, Silas Maynard 2016, sister, Ann Totherow and a brother, Willie Bowers. Daisy was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church #1 Cemetery.
