Adelene Ball Pierson, was born September 22, 1924 at Pera Virginia in Amherst County and died Monday October 17, 2022 at the Kroontje Health Care Center in Blacksburg VA at the age of 98. She was the daughter of John Letcher Wood and Bertha Tomlin Wood.
Adelene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to many. She was known for her faith and love for God from a young age. She was compassionate, hospitable, and unwavering in being true to her faith.
She was predeceased by her first husband Elton Ball with whom she lived in Richmond Virginia for 38 years, her second husband Mearl Pierson with whom she lived at Downings Virginia for 11 years, and a daughter who died at birth.
Adelene is survived by four sons, Donald (Glenda), Dale (Sarah), Gene (Suyapa), and George (Cathryn); 11 grandchildren, Sara, Kimberly (Rick), Derron, Kevin (Libby), Eric, Nathan (Katie), Steven, Nicolas, Mollie and Emily; and 13 great-grandchildren, Caroline, Lilian, Aurelia, Hattie, Nadia, Camille, Nora, Maddie, Kelsey, Bennett, Corban, Evy, and Lucas; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by a daughter from her extended family, Helen Pierson Greenstreet. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews in her extended Pierson family.
Funeral service will be held at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. S.W. in Blacksburg Virginia at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 29, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Burial of cremains will be at Westhampton Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia at a later date.
