Mr. Dasher was born in Valdosta, GA on October 6, 1942, son of the late Lawrence David Dasher and the late Evelyn Arnold Dasher. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Dasher, and by a grandson, Landon Dasher.
He attended Valdosta High School for 3 years prior to graduating as the Star Student from Lowndes County High School in 1959. He was also awarded the designation of Star Student for the county. In 1964, he graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Dasher was employed for 33 years with a major state utility company before retiring from Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia following 11 years of employment. He was a member of Rome Church of Christ where he served as an Elder.
He was an avid Georgia Tech football supporter and had season tickets each year. He and his wife loved to travel especially on cruise ships. They visited many countries. The beaches at Normandy and the tulips in Holland were especially memorable. The Panama Canal and the canals of Venice are not to be forgotten. Only one cruise trip was left on their "bucket list" – the Northern Lights.
Survivors include his wife, the former Phyllis Tinney, to whom he was married on July 18, 1970; 2 sons, Dr. Drew Dasher (Jessica), Houston, TX, and Maj. Mark Dasher (Chandise), Rome; 2 grandsons, Logan and Liam Dasher, both of Houston, TX; a sister, Nancy Oswald (Larry), Gilbert, SC; a brother, Lawton Dasher (Pam), Naylor, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 2pm at Rome Church of Christ with Minister Steve Rogers and Minister David O'Connell officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 5 until 7pm. Social distancing guidelines will be followed at the visitation and funeral service, and masks are requested by the family.
Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Rome Church of Christ on Saturday at 1:30pm and include: Drew Molock, Tommy Callan, Dennis Elmore, Vic Tinney, Dutch Copelan, Terry Maynard, and Doug Gresham.
