Frederick M. Smith, 74, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Premier at Susquehanna Nursing Center.

Born July 31, 1946 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Lester M. and Margaret A. (Groft) Smith. Fred was the loving husband of Linda L. (LeGore) Smith with whom he shared 25 years of marriage.

Fred attended Delone Catholic High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country proudly during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Fred worked for over 30 years as a carman for CSX Railroad until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA.

Fred enjoyed Elvis music and movies, was an avid NASCAR fan, and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Linda, Fred is survived by two children, Douglas M. Smith, and Tamara A. Bittle and husband Justin all of Hanover, PA; two stepchildren, Chad D. Shanebrook and Andrea L. McGee both of Hanover, PA; granddaughter Kuressa S. Laughman of Hanover, PA and step granddaughter Jordan L. Shanebrook of Hanover, PA, and one sister, Yvonne Lawyer of Hanover, PA. He was preceded in death by one step granddaughter, Shannon E. Shanebrook.

A graveside service to celebrate and remember Fred's life will be held 10 AM, Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA with Rev. Arlene Dunn officiating. The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail will provide Military Honors.
