Word was received here yesterday morning by Arvin Smock of the death of his mother, Mrs. W. R. Smock at St. Joseph, Mo. She has been in poor health for, several years past and death came Thursday morning as a relief to her sufferings. The body arrived last night and the funeral will take place this afternoon. The husband, W. R. Smock, has been employed at Trade, Mo., for sometime. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.

Relatives here received word last Thursday of the death of Mrs. Smock which occurred that day at St. Joseph, Mo. Mrs. Smock had been in very poor health for several years past and her mind was affected by her state of health to such an extent that she was placed in the asylum in thge hope that she would improve. But her health failed more and more till death released her.
Her maiden name was Emma W. Buford. She was married to W. R. Smock in 1874. Three sons of this marriage survive her; Harry, now in Colorado, Arvin of this city, and Frank, ten years of age. Mrs. Smock was a consistent member of the Christian church.
The remains were brought here Friday morning and funeral services were held at the Christian church Friday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. J. H. Wood.
Mr. Smock who now lives at Trade, in Chariton county, Mo., arrived here Thursday. A. D. Buford. a brother of the deceased, and his family and Mrs. Reed, a sister, came from Paris to attend the funeral. Miss Bertie Reed, of Quincy, was also present.
