Roy Scott Batson was born on December 10, 1910 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the son of John Hatton Batson (1859–1933) and his 2nd wife Annie (Bailey) Batson (1878–1956). {John and Annie were married on November 30, 1899 in Cheatham County.}
He was a graduate of Central High School and the YMCA Law School and was also a charter member of Nancy Webb Kelly Methodist Church.
Roy was married to Louise Ray.
Living in Nashville since about 1931, he was a clerk for the US Post Office. Living at 705 South 12th Street in Nashville, he was 51 years old and married when he had a heart attack and died on May 26, 1962 at Nashville General Hospital.
Survivors included his widow, daughter Mrs Mary Ann Rollins of Shelbyville, brothers Dainey Batson, Dodson Batson and John H Batson of Nashville, sisters Mrs Vista Ferrell of Nashville and Mrs Marjorie Jones of Greenbrier and a granddaughter.
Funeral Services were held at Eastland Funeral Home on May 28th, and burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.
