Concepcion was the eighth known child of Josefa Ramona Bandini and Pedro Catarino Carrillo of Mission San Gabriel Arcangel in Los Angeles County.

It is recorded she had a sister (6th born) who was born and died in 1850, also named Concepcion.

She never married and, after the deaths of both her parents, lived with her younger sister and family, Estella "Stella" Maria, wife of James Nelson Dowling.

In fact, she outlived her sister and it was Estella's daughter, Josefa Dowling, who signed the Death Certificate of her Aunt Concepcion, and also lived a very long, unmarried life herself.
