Born in Malone, N.Y. on March 20,1931, He was the son of the late Willard and Agatha Wood LaFave.
He graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Malone, N.Y. and received his Associates Degree from Canton Agricultural and Technical College in Canton, N.Y.
He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952.
Garnar worked as the store manager of the Puritan Store in Malone.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Judy and Scott Poupore of Malone; his son and daughter-in-law John and Lori LaFave of Palmyra, N.Y.; his six grandchildren, Christy (Erich) LaBelle, Andrew (Haleigh) Poupore, Alison (Joshua) Poirier, Christopher (Janelle) Poupore, Michael (Kaitlin Fisher) LaFave, and Matthew LaFave; as well as eight great-grandchildren.
