Elmer Eugene Walker, Sr. of Madison, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at his residence at the age of 91. Born March 11, 1928 in Mohawk, TN, he was the son of the late Edison and Fannie Wilhoit Walker. Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Army. On October 3, 1953, he married Catherine Dandelske and returned to Greene County Georgia to assist his parents in setting up their dairy farm. In April of 1957 he moved his family to Madison, GA. He worked for H. W. Ivey Construction Co. in Atlanta, GA and was a member of the Carpenters Union. Elmer was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Athens, GA. His talents included woodworking and cars.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Catherine Walker in 2018; and siblings James Edward Walker, George Luther Walker and Johnny Melvin Walker. Survivors include his children, Elaine Walker of Hull, GA, Teresa Walker of Colbert, GA, Gene Walker of Auburn, GA and Laura Nuckolls of Bogart, GA; two grandchildren, Jessica Nuckolls of Fort Wayne, IN and Catherine Fields of Monroe, GA; three great grandchildren, Damien, Lily and Amelia Nuckolls all of Fort Wayne, IN; brothers, Billy O. Walker of Greeneville, TN and S. Henry Walker of Travelers Rest, SC; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
