Anne Evelyn Alderson, an avid runner and a former Peace Corps volunteer in Bogotá, Colombia, was raped and shot to death by Trailside Killer, David Carpenter on 13 October 1980 near the Cushing Memorial Amphitheater in Mount Tamalpais State Park, Marin County, California. Carpenter was convicted of the murders of seven people, including Anne, but murdered at least another four, and is awaiting execution in San Quentin State Prison.
