James L. Askew, 93 of Lakeside/Marblehead, formerly of Marion, died peacefully Thursday evening April 8, 2021 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Unit.

He was born November 14, 1927 in Marion to the late Ralph Heber and Myrtle (Hedges) Askew; he was also preceded in death by his wife Elva Anna (Norris) Askew, they were married February 23, 1949 in Kentucky and she died October 5, 2012. Also preceding him in death was a daughter: Paula Webb and two brothers: Robert and Charles Askew.

Jim was a 1945 graduate of the Harding High School. He served our country in the United States Army. Jim was self-employed Painting Contractor, running the family business, Askew Decorating for many years. He was a long-time member of the Marion First Presbyterian Church. He really enjoyed choir music; he had even sung in the school choir when he was younger. A true family man, he enjoyed cooking, holidays, especially Easter and watching his OSU Buckeyes.

But he really had a passion for the water and fishing, he and his family have spent countless time (over 50 yrs.) at Lake Erie. He always had the best fish fry’s and loved taking numerous boat trips.

Jim will also be remembered for his practical jokes and maybe a little bit of sarcasm!
