On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, Anne (Martin) Gage, passed away from natural causes at Calimesa Post Acute in Yucaipa, CA. She was 87 years old and had been living in Palm Desert, CA. A native of Seattle, WA, Anne was born on January 24, 1934 (10:21 p.m,) at Swedish Hospital to Roy Martin, Jr. (b. 1906) and Marjorie Anne (Meade) Martin (b. 1907). Anne was married three times (twice widowed) and did not have any children. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lawrence Heffernan Arnold (b. May 15, 1924, d. September 11, 1964) who she married in Santa Barbara, CA, on September 23, 1958. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Benjamin "Ben" Austin Gage (b. October 29, 1914, d. April 28, 1978) who she married in Beverly Hills, CA, on April 6, 1969. Anne's third marriage was to Frank L. Clayman-Cook in Las Vegas, NV, on July 28, 1989. They later divorced. Anne's two younger brothers, Michael Martin (b. 1936) and William "Bill" Martin (b. 1940) also preceded her in death. Anne is survived by her beloved dog, Coco, who was adopted by her longtime friend, LJ Carusone, living in Venice Beach, CA.
Anne resided in Seattle, Honolulu, Los Angeles, and the Palm Springs area. She was sophisticated, always dressed to the nines, and loved to discuss politics, current events, entertainment, fashion, and travel (especially Paris), and she pampered her dogs as if they were her children (daily grooming, chicken and caviar treats, bows in their hair). Anne never missed an episode of The Rachel Maddow Show, was a fan of author Dorris Kearns Goodwin, read the LA Times daily, and enjoyed sharing recipes with friends. But Anne's greatest passion was for her dogs. She loved anything to do with Shih Tzus. Except for Anne's miniature poodle, Gracie, all of her fur babies were Shih Tzus, including Sugar, Domino, and Coco.
Anne's cremation is being arranged through Inland Memorial in Colton, CA. No memorial service or funeral is planned.
