Tony had an unsurpassed passion and zest for life and was truly young at heart. He was a professor of music at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, until his retirement in 1996. Tony was member of the faculty at the University for over thirty years, and was Chairman of the Department of Academic Studies for the School of Music for much of that time. In his youth, Tony was a successful jazz musician in Indianapolis. He was a member of both the Army and Air Force, serving as a medic and subsequently in the music corps. Tony had many loves in life, including sports, music, nature, his family, and civic duty. He served as a selectman for several years in Merrimack where he made his home and raised his family. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was inspirational.
Tony is survived by his daughter, Athena Holevas of Concord; son, Peter Holevas of Merrimack; and sister, Athena Mallender of Florida. He was predeceased by his son, Spiros Holevas; wife, Elizabeth Clark Holevas; brothers, Peter Holevas and Tom Holevas; and sister, Christine Dine.
