A graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday April 8, 2021 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington. The service will be officiated by Paul E. Woolard. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Mr. Woolard was born on August 12, 1935, son of the late Charlie Lynnwood Woolard, Sr. and the late Lydia Seawood Woolard. He was a 1953 graduate of Bath High School. Following high school, he worked in Civil Service for the Navy and retired as a communication operator. On February 16, 1954 he married the former Shirley Mae Jackson who preceded him in death on April 11, 1991. On August 27, 1994 he married the former Ruth Ann Johnson who survives. Mr. Woolard enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and gardening. He was a member of Kempsville Christian Church.
Surviving along with his wife, Ruth, of the home are his children: Hugh G. Woolard, Jr. (Patti) of Wytheville, VA, Jimmy Woolard, Sr. of Courtland, VA, and Paul E. Woolard (Marcie) of Portsmouth, VA; stepchildren: Steven Subotnik (Jennifer) of Charlottesville, VA, Richard Subotnik (Dana) of Ohio, Robert Subotnik (Susan) of Greensboro, and Sarah Nash of Portsmouth, VA; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and fourteen step-grandchildren. Mr. Woolard was predeceased by his brothers: Garfield Woolard and Gary Woolard, and a sister: Peggy Black.
