Christie Irene Stewart, age 94,passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, April 4, 2021 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.

She was born on August 8, 1926, in Otego, daughter of the late DeWitt T. and Irene C. Bidwell Underwood. Christie was raised on her family's dairy farm in Otego and was a graduate of Otego High School. On August 6, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donald Stewart in Wells Bridge. Together they owned and operated the Stewart Dairy Farm in Otego. She retired in 1977. Mr. Stewart preceded her in death on May 2, 1983. In 2001, Mrs. Stewart moved from Otego to Richfield Springs and has remained since. Christie had a strong belief in God and was a devoted member of the Richfield Springs Bible Church. She was also an active member of the Cooperstown Area Christian Women's Club. In her leisure time she enjoyed crossword puzzles and doing jigsaw puzzles. To those who knew her, Mrs. Stewart had an outgoing personality. Her many friends and family were most important to her. She will be sadly missed.

Surviving her are one niece, Beatrice Worden and her husband Richard of Richfield Springs, five nephews, Richard Mertin and wife Bessie of Morris, D.L. Cappy Chase and wife Debbie of Ft. Worth, TX, Nils Klem and wife Connie of Junction City, KA, David Stewart an wife Karen, Michael Stewart and wife Patricia all of SC, many grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Donald,she was preceded in death by four nieces, Zida Chase,Elizabeth Underwood, Norma Wolcott and Eleanor Wightman.

Funeral service for Mrs. Stewart will take place on Tuesday April 13th at 11:00 am in the Richfield Springs Bible Church. The family will be present in the church to receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be on Wednesday in Evergreen Cemetery, Otego, NY. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Richfield Springs Bible Church. Envelopes will be available at the church service.
