Enlisted as a Private in Company A, 6th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry Regiment, October 26, 1861, at the age of 24. Albert was discharged Disabled, September 27, 1862, at Newport News, VA. After fifteen months recovery, Albert was not fit for field duty, but was able to serve in the Veteran Reserve Corps to perform other military duties. He reentered the Army in Company A, 19th Regiment, Veteran Reserve Corps, and served at the Prison Camp in Elmira, New York. He was discharged November 15, 1865. Albert's residence of record in the 1880's was Center Harbor, NH.
