Patsy was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Lapeer, Mich. She spent 69 years as a Butlerite.
She was a devoted daughter of her parents, Edward W. and Gertrude Crowe; wife to Tony, who preceded her in death; and a mother to her nine children, Tom (Mary) Began, Ned (Barbara) Began, Joseph (Gail) Began, Mary Pat Miller, Theresa (Glen) Van Husen, Catherine (Michael) Keller, Anita Smith, Chris (Vicki) Began and Timothy Began.
Patsy had 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
She and her husband Tony were proprietors of Ravenhurst Motel, located three miles south of Butler, from the early 1960s to 1991.
As a charter member of the Blue Army at St. Paul Church, she taught members how to say the Rosary. She often held prayer groups and participated in spaghetti dinners at the church.
She found enjoyment in playing contract bridge with her friends for over 38 years, enjoyed reading books, and vacationing at a family cottage in Ontario, Canada. Her many acts of charity were widely known.
She volunteered to sew bandages and attend functions put on by the Butler Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
She moved to Michigan with one of her daughters in 2016, and remained there until her death.
BEGAN - Friends of Patricia "Patsy" G. Began, who died Saturday, March 27, 2021, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
