Brenda Jean Shafer Fleming entered Heaven on Sunday, March 28, 2021. Brenda was born on December 14, 1948, to Thomas L. and Virginia Deaver Shafer in Temple, Texas. The family moved to Tyler, Texas, in 1961 where Brenda graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1967. She was active in school and church activities in high school.

Brenda married Jerry Fleming on April 5, 1969, and they enjoyed almost 53 years of happiness. Jerry served as a minister of music, youth, education administration, and senior adults and Brenda served with him in many of those areas. But her gift was preschoolers and she was the coordinator of that area at First Baptist Church Sanger, Texas. She also was a kindergarten teacher at Simonton Christian Academy in Fulshear, Texas. In addition, she taught Ladies Bible Studies in various churches.

She was most proud of her daughters and grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives. Brenda loved life and she loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She would talk to anyone, anytime about Him.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Virginia Shafer, a sister, Barbara and a grandson, Matthew Cooper. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Fleming of Fort Worth, her children Amy Cooper (Daniel) of Krum, Amanda Kolman (Loren) of Canon City, Colorado, and Melodie McGarrah (Jeremy) of Weatherford, and her sisters, Carolyn Hutchins of Tyler and Judy Phillips of Dallas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Carson and Cameron Cooper, Hope, Isabella, and Ava Kolman, Holden, Paxton, and Abraham McGarrah.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 31, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home 705 North Locust in Denton, Texas. A graveside service for family only will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church of Sanger, Texas, at 2:00 p.m.

The family wishes to thank Hilltop Rehabilitation and Living Center in Weatherford and Envoy Hospice of Fort Worth for their excellent care for our loved one during her time there.
