Sergeant Major Patrick Morris Obituary



Sergeant Major Patrick Wayne Morris made his transition from earth to paradise on March 4, 2021. He was given the gift of life on February 19, 1968 to Elmo Morris Sr. and the late Ruthie Dee Allums in Shreveport, LA.



Patrick grew up with his many cousins as he was an only child. He loved church and joined Starlight Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Jones. He attended Old Southside and Ringgold High School where he was extremely active in many sports including football and track. Patrick graduated in 1986 and joined the United States Army in 1987. In 1993, Patrick started working at Mates Fort Polk as an Electrical Technician. He later worked at Camp Minden where he was promoted to Shop Forman and worked until his departure. Sergeant Major Patrick Morris received numerous awards including; 1 Meritorious Service Medal, 1 Army Commendation Medal, 6 Army Achievement Medals, 1 Army Reserve Components Medal, 2 National Defense Service Medals w/Bronze Star, 1 Humanitarian Service Medal, 1 Army Service Ribbon, 1 Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon, 5 Noncommissioned Officers Professional Developmental Ribbon, 1 Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, 1 Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, 2 Driver and Mechanic Badges, 1 Bar, Driver-T (for tracked vehicles), 1 Bar, Mechanic (for automotive or allied vehicles), and 1 Army Expert Qualification Badge. He served as a deacon and later was ordained an Elder at My Father's House in Natchitoches, LA. Patrick enjoyed teaching his Sunday School class. Patrick was working on obtaining a master's degree in Business. Patrick impacted many lives during his time here on earth.



Patrick was preceded in death by his mother, Ruthie Dee Allums, mother in-law, Hattie C. Jones, father in-law, Clemon Jones, and Grandmother, Sherry Lou Allums. He is survived by his father, Elmo Morris Sr., his wife, Melissa. His children; Patnelius Reliford, Cortez Smith (Domeshia), Marissa Morris, and JakoriMorris. His grandchildren; Cameron Drakes, Za'Niyah Smith, Cortez Jr. Smith, and Jeremiah Smith. His sister-in laws; Jerri Dean Hill (Eugene) and Elizabeth Ann Isaac. His brother in-law; Quenton Isaac. His nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
