KIA Allatoona PassIn Phil Gottschalk's 'In Deadly Earnest' he quotes Frank Creason, who looked after the wounded from Allatoona, who wrote in a letter home:
'Thomas J. Sneed, James Hicks and Joseph Hardyshell were killed. Samuel Anderson was severely and I fear mortally wounded. He was left on the field. Robt. Hardwich was wounded through the left lung, the surgeons considered it mortal. We brought him off some 30 miles and left him at a private home. I fear he is dead.......Phil Allen was mortally wounded, Pat Smith, Cox and James Ords were killed out of Capt. Chrystan's company. Major Waddell killed, Maj. Williams wounded. Col. McCown is on Furlough and Capt. Kaniff is in command of our regiment. Lt. Lamb was killed.'
