Herbert Melvin Chandler, 93, of Greenville and Columbia, S.C., passed away on Monday, June 11, 2007.

He was the son of the late James Walter Chandler and Hattie Lee Pearson Chandler and the husband of Connie T. Chandler. Mr. Chandler was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church and a former member of Washington Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, three children survive him: H. Melvin Chandler Jr. and his wife, Ellen, of Ga., Joan Chandler Marinos and husband, Pete, of N.C., and Stanley Chandler of Greenville; four stepchildren: Carolyn Williamson and husband, Dwight, of S.C., Fran Symes and husband, Chuck, of Va., Pat Greenburg and husband, Ron, of S.C., and Bob Talley of Calif.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his first wife and Mother of his children, Sophia Abbott Chandler and an infant son Herbert Stephen Chandler.
