The Rev. James O. Cooper, 71, of Paris went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at his home.

Services are scheduled at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Robert Myre officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cemetery with Bright-Holland Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The son of Abner and Ruth Seal Cooper, he was born May 8, 1933, in Plains. He married Kathleen Lake in 1950.

As a minister, he and his wife built, established and pastored churches in Texas, West Virginia, Georgia and New Mexico prior to their move to Paris.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; three children, Karen Pentecost and husband, Jerry, of Sherman, Marsha Sheppard of Georgia and Ricky Cooper of Paris; six grandchildren, Michael Penetecost and wife, Kristin, of Paris, Rebecca Cleveland and husband, Daryl, of Bonham, Adam Sheppard and Joseph Sheppard, both of Georgia, and Shelby Cooper and Samantha Cooper of Midland; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lula Madson of Roswell, N.M. and Shirley Smith of Jackson, Miss.; and one brother, Guy Cooper of Arkansas.
