Mrs. Sarah Lacey Lewis - A native of Uniontown, Alabama and a resident of Mobile and Prichard, Alabama for a number of years, departed this life October 25, 1980 at 7 A.M. at a local hospital. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Frances Lacy of Dayton, Ohio and Miss Juanita Lewis of Prichard; five sons, Mr. Willie T. Lewis of San Francisco, California, Mr. Jerome Lewis of Mobile, Mr. Winfred Lewis, Mr. Bertram Lewis and Mr. Derrick Lewis all of Boston, Massachusetts; one sister, Mrs. Juanita Collins of Mobile; five brothers, Mr. Millard Lacey of Prichard, Mr. Joseph Lacey of Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Marion Lacey of Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Adolphus Lacey of Los Angeles, California, and Mr. Arthur Clarence Lacey of Kansas City, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; one son-in-law; five daughters-in-law; sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews and a number of other relatives and close friends.

Visitation will be held from the Reese Funeral Home on Friday, October 31, 1980 after 5 P.M. Funeral services will be held from the Cedar Grove Baptist Church (210 W. Clark Ave., Prichard) on Saturday, November 1, 1980 at 11 A.M. with Rev. P.L. Ely, pastor and officiating minister. Interment will be in the family plot in Oaklawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Reese Funeral Home, 925 Bessemer Ave., Prichard, Alabama.

According to the 1940 United States Federal Census, the Lacy family was living in Prichard, Mobile County, Alabama) and included the following household members: Sam Lacy (age 40) head of household; Mary Lacy (age 43), his wife; sons Millie (age 29), Steve (age 23), Marion (age 12), Adolphus (age 10), Arthur C. (age 7), Marvin (age 2); Jerome (age 11/12); and daughters Sara (age 14) and Juanita (age 8).
