Beulah Arneson Shearer, 84, Mesa, Ariz., former Sioux City resident, died Saturday in Mesa. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home In Morningside. The Rev. Randy Kasch, assistant pastor of the First Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Mrs. Shearer, the former Beulah Pearl Dodge, was born June 24, 1898, in Meadow Township, Clay County, Iowa. She graduated from Spencer (Iowa) High School in 1916 and from the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She married Elmer E. Arneson In 1930. He died in 1943 in Sioux City. She married F. Ray Shearer April 6, 1962, in Sioux City. She was employed as a private duty registered nurse. She was a lifelong resident of Iowa until retiring to Mesa in 1969. She was a member of Rose Croix Chapter 400, Order of Eastern Star and Velda Rose Methodist Church in Mesa. Survivors include her husband; one son, G. A. of Milford, Neb.; one daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Lorna) Zellmer of Bronson, Iowa; two stepsons, Wendell Shearer of Sioux City and Marvin Shearer of Sterling, Ill.; two brothers, Everette of Moneta, Iowa, and Wayne of Milford, Iowa; two sisters, Hazel Bender of Spring Grove, Minn. and Vina Medbery of Elgin, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
