After graduating from Hendersonville High School and Blanton's Business College, she and her husband, Cecil Edney, opened and operated Edney Commercial College on Hendersonville's Main St. As Henderson County’s first business school, it was the fore-runner of Blue Ridge Community College.
Oma worked as an executive secretary at GE over 30 years.
She leaves 3 daughters - Carolyn Fiorillo of Fairview, OR, Barbara
Wilford and Jewell Ramos, both of Hendersonville. She was beloved "Gah Gah " to 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A drop-in celebration of the life of Oma Douglass Edney will be Sunday August 9 at Jackson's Funeral Service from 2:00 pm - 3:30pm.
