Alex Tribune, Alex, Grady Co., OK, Friday, February 7, 1933: "Death of Mrs. Turner - Mrs. H. Turner passed away at her home 4 miles northeast of Alex, Thursday, Feb. 9, 1933, aged 65 years and 9 days. Minnie Josephine Barry was born at Barryton, Georgia, Jan. 30, 1868. She was converted at the age of 16 years, was baptized by the Rev. Scott Johnson and united with the presbyterian church. She was united in marriage to Henderson Turner in 1886 by the Rev. G. R. Ragland. To them were born eleven children, three of whom preceded their mother in death. With her husband and children she came to Oklahoma in 1921, and locating near Alex, where she spent the remaining years of her life. She was a member of the Lyerly, GA., Order of the Eastern Star, but never transferred her membership. In her death her husband and children have lost a companion and mother whose loyalty never wavered. She was a devoted Christian woman and in her home radiated that contentment and peace which comes through communion with the divine Spirit. And while suffering from ill health for several years she was patient and uncomplaining happy to be ministered to by her loved ones, yet appreciating the kindly ministrations of her neighbors and friends. Always rejoicing in the truth, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be aided unto you". The funeral services wee held at the family home Wednesday, conducted by Elder W. G. Newberry, and interment was made in the Laflin cemetery. She is survived by her husband, three sons, J. D., William and John of Alex and five daughters, Mrs. J. B. Gardner, Oeale, Fla., Mrs. Frank Burch, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Rachel, Zelma and Nina at home."
