Samuel was the son of Frederick and Elizabeth Himmelreich Blue. He was born in Liberty Township. Active in Public Affairs of his locality, serving for years as a member of the school board and in 1877 was honored with election to the office of treasurer of Montour County which he filled for one term (3 years). He was a Democrat. He bought 150 acres in 1871 in Montour county, he also owned 160 acres in Northumberland county, over half being timber land. His farm and improvements have cost him $150 an acre.
He first married Mary Elizabeth Wolf on 2 Feb 1860 and they had one son, Charles Wolfe Blue. She died in 1862.
He 2nd married Clarinda Kerr Murray on 21 Dec 1865 in Liberty Township, Montour, PA. Their children: Carrie May, Wilfred Murray, Frank Howard, George Herbert, Edgar, and Jennie Belle.
I believe both Samuel and Elizabeth died at their place in Northumberland County.
