James Barnett Kimball Jennings: Funeral services for James Barnett Kimball, 64, will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, La on Thursday, February 25, 2010 @ 11:00 AM with Minister Jimmy Sterling Shinn officiating. He was called to his Heavenly Father early Tuesday morning from his home in Evangeline while surrounded by his beloved family . Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 24th from 10:30 AM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Thursday, Feb. 25th at 8:00 AM until the time of service.

James will be laid to rest in the Abshire Cemetery where he will be honored with full military rites.

James Barnett was born in Jennings, La to the late Stephen & Agnes (Simar) Kimball in January of 1946.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army.

Following his military service, James worked as a yard supervisor for a petroleum company until his retirement. James was a very kind and compassionate person. He always put the needs and happiness of others ahead of his own. He loved life and spending time with his family and friends. James also enjoyed fishing and working with his horses. He will be truly missed by everyone whom lives he has touched.

Leaving behind to cherish his memories is his beloved wife and best friend, Ruby (Monceaux) Kimball of Evangeline; four daughters, Rhonda (Janice) Floyd of Crowley, Melissa (Janice) Myers of Gueydan, Dawn (Kimball) Murphy and her husband Christopher of Iota, and Candra (Kimball) Scott and her husband Troy also of Iota; two sisters, Onita Fruge of Jennings and Mary Negley of Lucas, KA; and his 18 beautiful grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Stephen & Agnes Simar Kimball; one son, Stephen Douglas Kimball; brother, Hebert “Butch” Kimball; and sister, Peggy Cobb.
