Born in Howard County, Arkansas in 1925, he was the son of Clarence and Dovie Lee McBay Lingo. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Pauline; a sister, Nella Dean Lingo Call; his son, Steven Lingo; and a grandson, Matthew Lingo.
Robert was a proud Navy veteran of 30 years, serving many of those years as an Aviation Ordnanceman for various squadrons and on several aircraft carriers during WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam. He retired from the Navy in 1973.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Betty Jane Rarick and her husband, Kimber; a son, Robert Scott Lingo and his wife, Susan; two grandsons, Kyle Rarick and his wife, Tiffany, and Michael Lingo and his wife, Bridgid; and a great-granddaughter, Raelynn Rarick.
