Mr. Elton was born and reared in Oconee, the son of the late Owen Elton and the late Mary Anne Yates Elton. His job with Universal Utilities relocated Mr. Elton to Augusta where he would spend the rest of his life. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for over 30 years. Mr. Elton was an active member of New Hope Worship Center in Augusta where he was a church deacon and worked with church finances. He loved to fish and hunt and possessed a love for old cars and restoring them.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Thigpen Elton of Augusta; great-nephews, Gregory Jimenez and his wife Isila, and Charles Jimenez and his wife Lorenmae, whom he lovingly referred to as sons and daughters in-law; a third beloved great-nephew, Vincent Taylor; and several extended family members.
