Donald Sylvester Brooks, Jr., affectionately known by most as "Moose," was born on January 11, 1963, at Washington, Missouri, son of Donald Sylvester Brooks, Sr., and Joyce Albertean Brooks nee Baker. He was blessed to have two sons during his lifetime. Moose departed this life at Washington Sept. 22, having reached the age of 29 years, eight months and 11 days.

He is survived by his parents, Donald S. Brooks, Sr., known to most as "Pete," of Pacific, by his mother, Joyce Brooks of Villa Ridge, by two sons, Ryan Terrille Brooks of Villa Ridge and Anthony Donald Byrd of Pacific, by his grandparents, William and Mamie Baker of Villa Ridge and Alice Turner Brooks of Pacific, by great-grandmothers Delma E. Brown of Villa Ridge and Bertie G. Jacobs of Pacific, by one sister Stephania J. Brooks of St. Clair, by one nephew, Phillip Michael "Tony" Brooks of St. Clair, by his special friend Robin Skeen of St. Clair, by many aunts, uncles, great-aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Sylvester Brooks.

Don accepted Christ, was Baptized, and received his early Christian training at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Robertsville. He later united with Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Villa Ridge. He had lived in Villa Ridge throughout his life and had attended Pacific High School, graduating in 1981. During his high school years, he was an active participant in the sports program, playing baseball and football and running track. He more recently enjoyed lifting weights and was an avid baseball fan as well as player. Following graduation, Don had enlisted in the United States Army and served for a short time. He had most recently been employed by Associated Rubber Products Company in St. Clair. He was a fun-loving, outgoing individual, always managing to bring joy to those he was with. He loved spending time outdoors, and riding his motorcycle and fishing were favorite pastimes. All of Don's family were very dear to him and the love and memories he has created for them will remain in their hearts forever.
