Born October 17, 1949, at Maryville, he was the son of Francis J. Gross, Maryville, and the late Marguerite Bluel Gross. On April 27, 1971, he was married at Skidmore to Sandra L. Walton, who survives.
A graduate of Maryville High School, he served with the Army in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Countryside Christian Church. He had been a lifetime resident of this community.
Besides his wife and father, he is survived by two children, Karree and Marshall Gross, of the home; four sisters, Margaret Louise Bears, Mildred Marie Peter and Rita Joan Gross, Maryville; and Mary Ann Hogsett, Canon City, Colorado; seven brothers, Robert M. Gross, Blue Springs; Donald Leo Gross, Shreveport, Louisiana; Edmond Louis Gross, Kansas City; Thomas George Gross, Greenwood, Iowa; Harold Francis Gross, Fontana, California; Karl Stephen Gross, Maryville; and William Richard Gross, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Countryside Christian Church, with burial in Nodaway Memorial Gardens. Delbert Biehle will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Price Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society.
