Floyd L. Baker
March 14, 2021
Floyd L. Barker (87) of Mason, OH joined his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 14, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife, Vanola, to whom he gave his heart. He is also preceded in death by his parents Laura and Willard Barker, his brother Lester Barker and his sister Wilma Cooney.

Floyd was a man who loved being with people and telling stories. His life was a story of its own. He earned his degree from Lees-Mcrae College and Virginia Poly-Tech Institute. He proudly served in the US Army from 1953-1955, then spent his career with GE as an engineer.

Floyd was fascinated with God’s Word and creation, especially birds and trees. He would boldly give wisdom and encouragement, and gave a lasting impression to those he cared about. Floyd enjoyed spending time at and serving his church. He also loved entertaining children and truly delighted in giving to others.

Floyd’s definition of family spread wide. He had such love and affection for his brother’s children and grand children. On visits, he would rock babies, laugh with toddlers, and share whatever he had on hand, even the coins from his pockets. The Jackson family held a special place in the hearts of Floyd and Vanola, and they loved living life together. The Jackson kids grew up thinking of Floyd as more than just a neighbor, but family. Graveside service will take place at Fairview Church, 57 W Main St, Brodhead, KY 40409 on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1 PM. Burial in the Fairview Church of Christ Cemetery
